Union County Little League

All Stars

Welcome to the All-Stars Page

All Stars is Little Leagues post-season tournament.

It is a privilege and honor to represent the best players from Union County. All players are encouraged to try out. To qualify for the Little League World Series, teams from the local Little Leagues across the world begin competition at a District Level. Teams that win, advance to the State and regional levels, before qualifying for the World Series.

Subject to numbers, and board discretion, UCLL may apply for  the following All Star teams:
Ages 8,9, and 10 year old Baseball and Softball
Ages 9,10, and 11 year old Baseball and Softball
Ages 10, 11, and 12 Year old Baseball and Softball
Ages 12, 13, and 14 year old Baseball and Softball Junior

The Basics

Tournament starts at the District Levels in order to advance through the international tournament. The 8-10, 9-11 year old tournaments culminate at a state level, while the Little league, Little league Intermediate (50/70) Baseball, Junior League, and Senior League Divisions all conclude at a World Series Tournament broadcasted on ESPN.

Eligibility

In order to meet eligibility players must meet criteria established by Little League's "Residency and School Attendance Player Eligibility Requirement" , and have participated in eight (8) regular season games by the start of Tournament Play. Teams must complete 12 regular season games.

Team Selection

The Union County Little League Board of Directors will hold try outs for Baseball and Softball participants that have registered prior to close dates. Players are evaluated based on throwing, catching,  infielding, outfield, hitting, base running and attitude. The board of directors will then analyze and compile data and coaches input to determine the teams. The maximum amount of players on a team is 12, with a Manager, Head Coach, and Assistant.

Mandatory Play

All Tournament Tams are continuous batting order. Each player is required to bat in his/hers respective spot in the batting order. A player may be entered and/or re-entered defensively in the game at any time. Managers are solely responsible for ensuring that all players fulfill the requirements of playing participation.  **Reminder that participating in Tournament Play is a choice, and that while it is a privilege to play, it is also a commitment with added practices and games.

Commitment Letter

2024 Commitment Letter

Union County Little League
Player/Parent Commitment, All-Stars 2024

-Both parents and players realize that they are representatives of Union County Little League (UCLL) and will honor and exemplify the principles of Little League at all times. This includes playing ability, sportsmanship and respect for other players, coaches and umpires.

-I/we will be prepared and available for all practices. Practices will start around June 1 and could be as frequent as 5 days a week.

-I/we understand that a player must have played in 8 of the 12 games the team played during the regular season to be eligible to try out for an all-star team.

-I/we understand that there will be a $75 participation fee should I be selected for a team.

-I/we understand that teams are split into skill and league age of players. A player may be rostered on a team different then with the players they played with during the regular season.

-I/we realize that my/my child’s presence is crucial to the success and morale of the team. Unexcused absences from team practices or failure to appear at scheduled tournament games due to reasons other than illness, injury or family emergency may result in a player’s release from the team by the manager, with approval from the President, and could affect consideration of that player for future UCLL All-Star teams. Vacations are not considered excused absences. In fairness to his/her teammates and the league, I/we give our assurance that I/we will be available to attend practices and games.

-I/we understand that it is expected to be available for the entire district tournament schedule. And that the district tournament will be held in John Day June 26th-July 4th (dates subject to change).

- I/we realize that the stages of some tournaments are district, state, and possibly regionals. We pledge continued commitment through ensuring rounds of the tournament until tournament play concludes or the team is finally eliminated no matter how far to travel.

-I/we realize that the commitment to the UCLL All-star team comes before any other non-Little League team or to any other sports camps or sports teams during the All-Star season.

-I/we understand that I may be asked to play in different positions than I played during the regular season.

-I/we understand that minimum playing time might be just one at-bat.

-As parents, we understand that we will provide UCLL with a copy of birth certificate and proof of residency as per Little League Baseball.

-As parents, we understand that we will provide only positive reinforcement for players and to not “coach” my son/daughter during a game or practice. Additionally, we understand that we also are representatives of UCLL and will honor and exemplify the principles of Little League at all times.

-As parents, we understand that we are responsible for our attitudes and behavior toward coaches, players, other parents, spectators and umpires. Unruly and disruptive parents are the single greatest contributor to a negative All-Star experience for coaches, players and parents. UCLL expects parents to be supportive and encouraging throughout the All-Star season and during all practices and games.

PLAYER AGREEMENT

As a player, I agree to all the requirements outlined in this form. I also understand that I may be asked to play different positions and I may not get as much “playing time” as during the regular season. I also understand that collectively we will strive for the common goal of our best effort and performance as a team. If selected, I promise to support my team by playing my best at all times and by always being positive and respectful towards my teammates, coaches, umpires, fans and opposing teams at all times.

PARENT AGREEMENT

As a parent of this player, I agree to all of the conditions of participation as outlined in this form. I understand and agree to support the time commitment and involvement of my child in the UCLL All-Star team if my child is selected. I will help support my son/daughter, the team, the league and the coaches to make the All-Star experience a fun and memorable one. I will keep a positive attitude and will help encourage my child’s attitude, enthusiasm and effort. I understand that my being disruptive can lead to me and/or my child being asked to leave the team.

    FAQs

If my family already has a vacation planned during June thru July, how would that affect All-Stars eligibility?
If you already have vacation planned during this time, we recommend you do not submit your child’s name for consideration. The All-Star team is a huge time commitment and players are expected to be at all practices and games.

If my child is selected for the All-Stars team, what can we expect (practices and games)?
All-Star teams practice at least 4-5 nights a week with practice length times varying. There may also be some pre-tournament scrimmages. Practice locations are determined by the coaches.

How much play time will my child get on the All-Stars team?
Tournament Play rules and expectations are different from regular season play. Not all players will receive equal playing time, many times a player will get only one at-bat and no field playing time in a game.

How many players are selected for each team?
This will vary depending on the manager based on tournament playing rules. Typically, most managers field a team of 12 players.

What will happen if there aren't sufficient player opt-ins?
If we don’t have enough players to field a team at various levels, then we can’t field a team.

What does it mean to “play up” for All-Stars?
If you elect during the tryout registration process for your child to be considered to “play up” that means that if you would like your child to be considered to play up for an All-Star team above your league age. For example, if you elect for your league age 12 year old to “play up” that means we will include your child’s name on the tryout list for coaches to vote for the Juniors team. During registration this would be selecting minors & majors if available or majors & Jrs if available.
